BGF manufactures nonwoven blankets for many acoustical applications. Two products are utilized for acoustic insulation : Techmat® and SilcoSoft® mat.

Techmat for Acoustic Insulation

Techmat is a mechanically bonded glass fiber insulation blanket ranging in thickness from 1/4" to 1/2" and available in 6-11 lb./cu. ft. densities. Techmat's superior acoustic properties make it an excellent sound absorber and the ideal acoustic insulation for automotive exhaust systems to achieve a “quiet ride”.

SilcoSoft for Acoustic Insulation

SilcoSoft Mat is a nonwoven insulation blanket providing a high level of performance when used as acoustic insulation. SilcoSoft is a soft, cotton-like blanket made from a remarkable new fiber by belChem Fiber Materials in Germany SilcoSoft's non-dusting, non-irritating, non-respirable (9 micron) fleecy soft fiber provides safe and easy handling when working with exhaust insulation materials. SilcoSoft can withstand temperatures up to 2000ºF and provides excellent sound absorption properties making it the ideal product for high performance exhaust insulation applications such as race car exhaust systems, catalytic converters, and motorcycle mufflers.

Applications for BGF's Acoustic Insulation

BGF's products for acoustic insulation are sold into many industrial markets including automotive, marine, filtration, and commercial. Acoustic insulation is used in mufflers, applicances, boiler rooms, industrial furnaces, and other areas where the challenges of sound and high heat combine to necessitate the unique solutions offered by BGF's acoustic insulation products.

Configurations of BGF's Acoustic Insulation

Techmat and SilcoSoft mat are sold in thicknesses from ¼”-1”, roll widths between 48” and 60” and roll lengths 25'-100'. Both products are manufactured in a variety of configurations to meet the customer's specific acoustic insulation requirements. Capabilities include:
